Our plan for our stay with Grandma in San Diego included the July 4th picnic at St. Michael’s, a week of swimming lessons followed by a week of skateboarding camp, a trip to my Grandfather’s grave site at Rosecrans Cemetery (including the Cabrillo National Monument), and an amazing trip to Disneyland!
We stopped at Starbuck’s after passing through security where we saw this beautiful, hand-drawn illustration on the chalk board behind the counter.
It was signed by the artist. I’m not sure of his name but it looks like JAMIE McDONALD 2013.
We taxied for a long time on the tarmac and it seemed like forever until we finally took off. It’s a good thing that San Diego is three hours behind New York!
We passed the air traffic control tower on our way to the runway.
I was really glad when we finally got airborne!
My Dad took a lot of pictures. That’s him on the right.
I had JetBlue’s music and video (controls on left) and my bunny to comfort me on the five-hour flight. That bunny must have hit the ground 100 times on the way but Grandma washed him when we got there.
I knew we would land soon when I saw the mountains outside San Diego.
San Diego looks a lot different from New York City.
The plane flies really close to the buildings when landing in San Diego.
We flew over the Air Space Museum.
My most wonderful paternal Grandma Ann invited me and my Dad to stay with her in San Diego for a whole month in July 2014. We flew JetBlue out of JFK. It turned out to be a very long day of traveling because we missed our first flight but luckily, the airline was very gracious and got us on another flight later that same day. We spent a lot of time at the airport and then had a long flight but it was worth it to see Grandma. She met us at the airport and Dad drove us home to Grandma’s house where she had a delicious pizza waiting for us. It tasted so good after our long journey.
